History of Siddhar

Siddha is named after the word “Siddhi”. Siddhi is a Tamil word means attainment of perfection or to become one with supreme. “Siddhars” is also a Tamil word, derived from a person who conquers ASHTA MAHA SIDDHI. The siddhars mentioned here are born with great talents who are living thousands of years in universe, by their devotion and search for truth, achieved perfection in their life. The Dravidians are the proud inheritors of there knowledge and wisdom.

QUALITIES OF SIDDHARS : They are divinely persons wake up by the supernatural siddhis called Ashtamaha siddhi. They are Shiva Yogis and following Shiva culture. They can reach any part of the universe using “Oli deham”. They are the self enlighten yogis. Siddhars were expert in 64 art forms. Siddha medicine is one of the ancient medical system which we can call as the mother of all medical systems in all over the world. Not only the medicine but also their contributions are in the field of literature, philosophy, Astrology, Alchemy, Marma, Yoga etc.

There are more controversies related with the eighteen siddhars list. With those variations there are about twelve lists are available. The context and the method adopted in constituting that list of important siddhars are not known definitely.
