Siddha Medicine

This is an ancient science founded by Lord Shiva to emphasis health is the perfect state of physical, psychological, social and spiritual components of human beings. Siddha is a complete science because it have Guna vakada and Padardha Chintharmani ( Quality of drugs all the materials on the universe), Varma Sasthra (Orthopedics and neurology), Pillai pini vakadam (Pediatrics), Nanju nool etc. Not only these medical books there is many supportive knowledge for analyze the man and his surrounding like Manayadi Vakadam (Architecture), Nakshathra njanam (Astrology), Mriga Vakadam (Book about Animal Kingdom), Kampu suthram (Martial Art) etc.

Siddhars were the first to employ metals and minerals as therapeutic agents. They are using 64 pashanas 120 uparesas for drug manufacturing.

Siddhars have developed a special method for the preparation of certain medicines. The preparation of Chunna (metallic preparation which became alkaline), Mezhugu(waxy preparation) Kattu (preparation which are impervious to water and flame), Vaatu (Extract or herbals or mineral’s) etc., are the special methods of drug preparations.

Alchemy deals with the science of converting lower metals into gold or other form. When they were trying to convert the lower metals into higher form, they got some medicines as by products.

Synthetic drug preparation was mentioned on old palm leaf manuscript Agasthyar Charakku Vaippu. Using these techniques we can manufacture vaippu charakku of synthetic drugs.

The process of Muppu( Universal salt) and other calcinations process of minerals, metals etc., are the royal features of Siddha Science.
